Grandma’s Closet is a lending library of items that Verandah residents are willing to lend. So many items are only needed for a short time, so why bother buying them when you can borrow from neighbors.  Click to see what Grandma has in her closet.

Ladies Chicago Bridge
Every Friday 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Ladies Locker/Card Room.
Begins November 1, 2022 and goes through April, 2023. We have seven Friday sign up days. The signup book is in the card room. Just sign up on the dates you can play. Bridge is from 1:00 -4:00 in the card room. We have 12 regulars, but they will be looking for subs throughout the season. If you would like to sub I will add you to the sub list! Ladies Gourmet
Meets the First Wednesday of each month 1 PM and 6 PM. Feel free to invite your neighbors and any gal in Verandah who enjoys making new friends, experimenting with new recipes, and entertaining. We will begin offering  the monthly luncheons and dinners throughout the summer for those full time residents who want to participate and see if there is enough interest to continue the club year-round.

Prostate Cancer Support Group

This group may benefit you if:

  • You are a man and or his family, or significant other, who is facing a treatment decision and would like to talk either privately one on one or in a group setting. (No medical opinions offered).
  • You are a man, spouse, significant other family member or have received or have knowledge of treatment you would like to share for the benefit of others.
  • You are a man who has "predisposition" to prostate cancer yet undiagnosed and want to learn more.
  • You are a person wanting a shared support experience.

Sew & Sews
A volunteer-run charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization that makes blankets, quilts, sewn and crocheted items that are donated to a variety of organizations, such as: local charities, people in need, and caring gifts for our community residents (Verandah Cares). Meetings held twice monthly year-round in the River House Dining Room from 9-11:30 a.m. Sewers and Non-Sewers welcome! Come meet new friends and do good for the community.

Social Butterflies Plus  - Social Activities, Plus Resources for Living Independently
Social Butterflies Plus is a new resident-run group for single Verandah women that provides fun, interesting social activities, PLUS, great ideas to continue living in our own homes independently.
Dining out, going to the movies, day trips to interesting places are more fun with others.
We share our skills and learn from each other, too. We can learn computer skills, programming the TV, safety proofing the house, new cooking ideas, whatever!  And we don’t have to do it alone.

Verandah Cares: A Sew & Sews’ Program
The Verandah Cares Program provides comfort items to members of our "Verandah family" who are dealing with an illness, surgery, birth of a child or death of a family member. The program is referral based and receives requests from residents of the community.

Verandah Women’s Social Club (VWSC)
The Verandah Women’s Social Club has been created to organize various social events including interactive workshops, keynote speakers, entertainment, luncheons and other social group functions. The VWSC will be inclusive of ALL women of Verandah who wish to participate in order to socialize, share their unique talents and enjoy each other’s company, fostering connection, belonging and community among female members at Verandah.
